Seasons of the Heart–Seasons of the Moon

Seasons of the Heart and Moon….Time and space are created but God went further. He created specific measurable markable passage of time. The marvelous dance between the of the moon, the earth, and the sun is central to time passage. But He still goes further! He makes us aware of it. Observers of the heavens often run and hide when the full moon rises because the rest of the sky is hidden in the moon glow. Most people, however, notice the full moon. They are meant to notice it.

On April 6th the full moon rose with a clear sky, so it was an opportunity to sketch. In this case, we were just a tad past full moon since the terminator was just beginning to creep in from the “waning moon side”. Crater Gauss is not too far from Mare Crisium and showed itself rather nicely. We broadcast the picture on Night Skies Network while I worked up an observing sheet. Here is the sketch before we continue the story:

The Bible records a famous speech in Acts 17, where Paul speaks to the Athenians. He makes a statement that was probably radical to them but nonetheless true: “…and he determined the times set for them and he determined the exact places where they should live. God did this so men would seek Him and perhaps reach out for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each of us.” (NIV)

You see, the moon marks off the seasons. That was its original God-intended purpose. When a lunar cycle passes, it is gone for good. Life has either been used properly or improperly. People have reached out for God, or avoided Him, or ignored Him. This has not changed, and will not change until He returns.

We have a choice to reach or not. We will have a certain number of lunar cycles to do it, and there will be no others. Some have a little longer; some have a very short time. But God uses the seasons of the moon to mark the seasons of the heart….each heart….through all ages….that we might have opportunity, if we choose, to know Him.

About rolandlinda3

We avidly enjoy the observation of God's creation in terms of stars, the moon, and earthly things. We teach others to observe what He has made. Part of the outreach and work is to maintain a site: www.christworksministries.org [or use the new address www.cwm4him.org]. This site has been changed to include this blog along with three other inspirational blogs. We invite you to take a look and follow us there. Whether here or at the new site, our purpose is unchanged. We aim to share the love of Jesus Christ, who has graciously kept us and made us excited about seeing what he has made. Our faith is a walking faith, so faith and works, as much as we are able, are married together.
